Hieveryone, I'm in the market for a brand used car but don't have a lot of dough to spend. In my price range (a measly $2500) I'm seeing quite a few '01-'02 Volvo S60's and S80's. They look quite nice for my price range, but everyone is telling me that they are expensive to maintain. The cars I am looking at are in the 120k-180k mile range AcuraRDX would be somewhat of a competitor to the XC40 but a Lexus RX is not a competitor at all; it’s a much larger suv. The XC40 competitors are in the compact suv category. 5. akriener. • 10 mo. ago. Screw acceleration, their niceness of materials inside the cabin are dog shit compared to Volvo. 5.
Thereare no arm rests for the middle row, which is totally weird and lacking in a captains chair configuration. Actually, probably the worst is the middle seat console on the 2nd row seats. It folds down from the middle seat and is so basic. My previous car had such a nice 2nd tie console, and the Volvos is super underwhelming.

Ifyou pay dealer prices for repairs they can absolutely be money pits. However if you are willing to do the work yourself, and shop around to save money on parts they aren't too bad at all. 21. nickolove11xk. • 7 yr. ago. If you're a mild DIYer then volvos offer a great community across almost ALL models.

Carswith those problems will be your perfect project car. Personally, I've had a couple of (non-Volvo) cars with very bad cooling and hydraulic problems, which taught me a lot, and I don't mind electrical work, so I'm happy fixing those things in future. For sure wealthy people drive them, and they are expensive, base model 200 series started at about $80k, mid range (still with cloth seats) about $100k and high end ones about $130k, but people from many walks of life drive them. . 73 262 369 195 150 194 304 189 174
